A relaxed, hands-on programme where home educated children build real working robots, explore science and engineering, and discover how technology shapes the world — through the power of LEGO®.

What is this programme?

Build. Programme. Discover.

Using LEGO® Education’s WeDo 2.0 kits, children work in pairs to build motorised robots, programme them using drag-and-drop visual coding on a tablet, and carry out real scientific investigations. Over six Monday sessions, they explore a different aspect of STEAM — science, technology, engineering, arts, and maths — in a welcoming, no-pressure environment.

Every activity is linked to the KS2 National Curriculum, giving home educating families a structured, documented STEAM resource that fits naturally alongside their existing provision.

🤖

Real Robotics

LEGO® Education WeDo 2.0 — the same kit used in schools and museums. Motor, motion sensor, tilt sensor, SmartHub, and 280 pieces per kit.

💻

Visual Programming

Drag-and-drop Scratch-style coding blocks. Children write real programmes — loops, conditions, sensor triggers — from the very first session.

📚

Curriculum-Linked

Each session maps to KS2 Computing, Science, Design & Technology, and Maths. A full coverage document is provided to every family.

👫

Collaborative

Children work in pairs, sharing the build and programming roles. Teamwork, communication, and joint problem-solving are woven throughout.

🎨

Creative & Open

Once the core build is mastered, children are encouraged to innovate and personalise. There is no single right answer — creativity is celebrated.

🏅

Certificate

Every child receives a personalised INR LEGO® Robotics certificate at the Grand Showcase on the final session — a proper celebration of everything achieved.

Common questions

FAQs

What age is this suitable for?

The programme is for children aged 7 and above — the minimum age set by LEGO® Education for the WeDo 2.0 kit. There is no upper age limit; the programme is designed for the KS2 range (roughly 7–11) but older children are very welcome.

Does my child need any prior experience?

Absolutely not. The programme is designed for complete beginners. No experience with coding, robotics, or LEGO® Education products is needed or assumed.

Why must I pay for the full course upfront?

With only 10 places available, pre-payment ensures every family is committed and allows INR to prepare kits, materials, and the venue for everyone. The full course fee of £79 also saves £5 compared with paying £14 per session.

What if my child misses a session?

We’re unable to offer refunds for sessions missed by the child, but we’ll share the session activity card and materials so your child can engage with the content at home.

Can I stay with my child?

Parents and guardians are actively encouraged to join in and support their child during the session, or to make the most of the outside space at the venue. Refreshments are also available. We simply ask that you follow Dale’s lead and allow the children space to explore and build at their own pace.

How does this link to our home education curriculum?

Each session maps directly to KS2 National Curriculum strands across Computing, Science, Design & Technology, and Mathematics. A full curriculum coverage document is provided at Session 1 — many home educating families use this as part of their STEAM provision for the term.

Will there be future cohorts?

We hope so! Additional dates are coming soon — keep an eye on our website and social media for announcements.

Only 10 places. No waiting list once full.
